Paddle Battle

Classic table-tennis arcade. First to 7 points wins, play the AI or a friend. Rules and tips below.

Paddle Battle rules, tips & how to play

Learn how to play this Pong-style table-tennis game and the tricks that win rallies, then take the first to 7 in the board above.

Rules & how to play

The goal

Two paddles knock a ball back and forth. Get the ball past your opponent's paddle to score. The first player to reach 7 points wins.

Controls

  • Horizontal mode: move your paddle with W and S or the up and down arrows.
  • Vertical mode: move with A and D or the left and right arrows.
  • On a touch screen, on-screen buttons move your paddle with a thumb.
  • Choose vs AI to play the computer, or vs Player to share the keyboard with a friend.

How scoring works

Every time the ball slips past a paddle, the other player scores a point. Play continues until someone reaches 7.

Winning tips

Aim with the paddle edge

Where the ball strikes your paddle changes its angle. Hitting it with the edge sends the ball out sharply, which is harder for your opponent to reach.

Return to the centre

After each hit, drift back toward the middle so you can cover a shot to either side rather than being caught out of position.

Watch the ball, not the paddle

Track where the ball is heading and move early. Small, timed adjustments beat frantic last-second lunges.
